It will be an informal meeting in the framework of a breakfast to learn about the work from the artist, to exchange ideas and to network.

Who is Claudy Jongstra?
Claudy is a renowned wool artist, operating at the intersection of art, design, fashion and sustainable agriculture. Her tapestries have hung at the UN headquarters in New York, she designed for Viktor & Rolf and starwars and she exhibits in several museums and galleries in Europe, including Madrid and Barcelona, among others. In January the artist participated in the exhibition “Pastoral Futures. The migrations of wool” is organized by MATERFAD, Materials Centre of Barcelona, in collaboration with EINA, University Centre of Design and Art of Barcelona.
Besides the art Claudy makes, she is committed as an activist to preserving the wool craft, and creating sustainable wool chains (sheep farmers, dye plant growers, designers, artisans, etc).
This way, wool does not have to be burned en masse as it is now, because shipping to China (where the wool industry is located) is too expensive. She has also been doing this in Spain for a few years now because of the strong wool culture here. She has contacts with several Spanish biodynamic farms, and soon the first cultivation of dye plants she uses to colour her wool is expected. She is also in talks with Inditex about using sustainable wool materials.
